Payments & Transfers
Payments & Transfers help and FAQs from Moneda on your self-custody account, stablecoins, transfers, security, and AI agent.
Can I move funds across different blockchains?
Yes. Your Moneda balances live on Base, but you can send funds out to a wallet on another network, and Moneda routes the payment for you.
Destinations include Bitcoin, Solana and EVM networks such as Ethereum, alongside Base itself.
How it works in practice:
- Paste or scan the recipient address. Moneda recognises which networks that address format can belong to and only offers those, so you cannot accidentally pick an incompatible one.
- Save the wallet as a contact with its network, and future payments to that contact use it, and if you saved more than one network you pick which one.
- Sending to another Moneda user, or to a wallet on Base, stays a direct Base transfer.
The available networks can change as support expands, so treat what the app offers for your recipient's address as the current list.
Always double-check the network and address before sending. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed.
Can I schedule recurring or future transfers?
Yes. Scheduled transfers send a payment automatically, either once on a future date or on a repeating schedule such as every week or month. You choose the recipient, amount, currency, and timing, and Moneda sends it for you. You can view, pause, edit, or cancel a scheduled transfer at any time, and you'll get a notification around each one. As with any transfer, the money leaves your own self-custodial wallet.
How do I send money to someone?
You can send money a few ways. To pay another Moneda user, find them by username or pick them from your contacts, enter an amount, and confirm with your transaction passkey. To send to an outside wallet, add the wallet address or choose a saved one and send it the same way. To pay out to a bank account, use a bank transfer from your virtual account (see Virtual Accounts). You choose the currency, and the amount leaves your own self-custodial wallet only once you approve it.
How do I add and manage contacts?
Contacts save the people and accounts you pay so you don't re-enter their details every time. You can add another Moneda user by their username, an external wallet by its address, or a bank account by its details. Once saved, a contact appears when you send money so you can pick them in a tap, and you can edit or remove one whenever you like. Payment contacts are separate from Recovery Contacts, which are only used to recover your account.
Can I convert between currencies, like US Dollars to Euros?
Yes. You can convert your balance between the currencies Moneda supports, such as US Dollars, Euros, Swiss Francs, and Canadian Dollars. Pick the currency you have and the one you want, and Moneda shows the amount you'll receive before you confirm. A foreign-exchange fee applies and is reflected in the rate you see; the exact fee depends on your plan. The converted balance stays in your own self-custodial wallet.
Can I pay and track bills?
Yes. You can upload a bill or invoice and Moneda reads its details, like the amount, due date, and who it's from. Your bills sit in one place so you can see what's due, then pay one straight from your balance when you're ready. Paying still needs your approval with your transaction passkey.
What are scheduled payments and how do I set one up?
Scheduled payments let Moneda send a payment for you on a repeating schedule, so you do not have to do it manually each time.
The first time you use them, you complete a short one-time setup and approve it with your passkey. That is what allows Moneda to run the payments on your chosen schedule afterwards.
When creating a payment you choose a start date and how often it repeats: daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly or quarterly. You can also set an end date, or leave it running until you stop it. Moneda shows you when the first payment will be sent before you confirm.
What happens if my balance is too low when a scheduled payment is due?
The payment is skipped that day, and your account never goes into a negative balance. Moneda then tries again, and the app shows the date of the next attempt. If you top up before then, the payment goes through.
Moneda also warns you ahead of time in two situations: when your balance will not cover the first payment, and when your scheduled payments for the next 30 days add up to more than your current balance. In both cases you can top up from the warning.
A skipped payment does not cancel the schedule. If payments keep failing, Moneda pauses the schedule. Open it in Scheduled payments and tap Reactivate payment once you have the funds.
Can I pause, edit, or delete a scheduled payment?
Yes. Open Scheduled payments and select the one you want to change.
- Pause stops future payments without losing the schedule. Payments to that recipient are skipped until you reactivate it.
- Edit lets you change the end date, or remove the end date so it runs until you stop it.
- Delete removes the scheduled transfer permanently.
Pausing and deleting only affect future payments. Payments already sent cannot be reversed.
Can I pay with a QR code?
Yes. Moneda supports QR payments in both directions.
To pay: scan the QR code with the app, or pick a saved image from your gallery. Moneda reads the recipient, and the amount if the code includes one, and you confirm before anything is sent. You will be asked for camera access the first time.
To get paid: use "Show my QR" so the other person can scan you.
In person, at a merchant: this runs on WalletConnect Pay, which lets you pay merchants directly from your USD or EUR balance. The first time you use it you will be asked to accept WalletConnect's terms.
A payment request can expire, and a QR will be rejected if the currency or token is not one Moneda supports, or if your balance does not cover it.
