AI Models Built for Finance vs General AI (2026)

Guides
Moneda Learnings Series

Federico Kunze Küllmer is the founder of Moneda, whose model Numa 1 is covered here.

Short answer: a few AI models and products are built for finance. BloombergGPT is a research model trained largely on Bloomberg's financial data. Fiscal.ai supplies checked financial data to AI tools. ChatGPT for Financial Services is OpenAI's product for banks and research firms. Numa 1 is the model behind Moneda's agent, for individual investors. No one can honestly name "the most accurate" AI for financial analysis, because every score depends on who ran the test and which questions were used. Read the fine print before you trust a number, including ours.

Finance-specific vs general AI, in plain words

A general AI model, like the one behind ChatGPT or Claude, learns from a huge mix of text: websites, books, code. It can talk about anything, finance included. It can also invent a number with total confidence.

A finance-specific model or product does a narrower job. It might be trained on more financial text, connected to clean financial data, or tested and tuned on finance tasks such as reading an annual report or doing the maths behind a valuation. The goal is fewer made-up figures and answers you can check.

"Built for finance" can mean different things, though. Sometimes it is the model itself. Sometimes it is a general model plus good data and rules. Ask which one you are getting.

The models, one by one

BloombergGPT

Bloomberg's researchers described it in a 2023 paper. It has 50 billion parameters (roughly, the adjustable settings a model learns) and was trained on a 363 billion token financial dataset from Bloomberg's sources, plus 345 billion tokens of general text. A token is a chunk of a word. The paper does not say the model is available to the public, so think of it as published research, not a tool you can open.

Fiscal.ai

Fiscal.ai is less a model than the data a model needs. It pulls numbers from filings and investor relations pages, has analysts check them, and lets you audit each figure back to its source. You can use it in its own terminal or plug it into AI tools through MCP connectors. The price is not published; there is a 7 day free trial. For similar tools, see our Fiscal.ai alternatives.

ChatGPT for Financial Services

OpenAI announced it on 10 September 2026. It is built for firms, starting with investment banking and equity research, with built-in data providers and company-wide controls. There is no public price; you contact sales. If you invest on your own, this is not the product you use. Our Moneda vs ChatGPT guide goes through the difference.

Numa 1 (Moneda)

Numa 1 is Moneda's financial AI model. It runs Moneda AI, the agent in the Moneda app. The agent shows the source behind every figure, gives the case for and against, and searches SEC filings and earnings-call transcripts. It also writes daily briefings and earnings summaries, has a screener, and can import portfolios you hold elsewhere as paper portfolios for analysis. It stress-tests a portfolio against past crashes and compares it with gold or an index. It never tells you to buy or sell.

Moneda's own tests, from October 2026:

  • 97.9% groundedness (answers backed by the sources it retrieved)
  • 92% claim verifiability (claims you can check against a source)
  • 95.6% on FLARE-CFA, the CFA question set of the FLARE benchmark
  • 80% on the public set of the Vals AI Finance Agent Benchmark v2

Moneda ran and graded all of these itself. Vals AI's top published score, 65.4%, is on its private set. That is a different set of questions, so you cannot compare the two numbers directly.

You can invest in US-listed stocks and ETFs and crypto in the same app, and you approve every trade with your passkey. Stocks are tokenized through Dinari: you hold a token that tracks the share price, not the share itself, and you get no voting rights. The money sits in your own account. Moneda only invests in US-listed shares and ETFs, so no European-listed stocks or funds. Standard is free, Premium is from €9.99 a month and Ultra is €19.99 a month, with 1, 5 or 10 commission-free trades a month depending on the plan. Through the Moneda MCP, Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client can work with your account under permissions you set; payments are still approved in the app. More on the developers page.

What the benchmarks measure

A benchmark is a fixed test: the same questions, graded the same way, so models can be compared.

FLARE came out of the PIXIU research project in 2023. It covers financial language tasks, such as reading sentiment in news or answering questions about financial text, plus a prediction task. It tests whether a model understands finance writing.

The Vals AI Finance Agent Benchmark is closer to real work. It asks an AI agent to do what an entry-level financial analyst would: find facts, research a market, make projections. Vals AI keeps a private set of questions so models cannot be trained on the answers.

How to read a benchmark claim

I'd ask four questions of any score, Numa 1's included.

  1. Who ran it? A score the vendor ran and graded itself is useful, but it is not the same as an independent result.
  2. Which set? Public questions can leak into training data. Private sets are harder to game. Scores on different sets don't line up.
  3. Which version? Benchmarks get updated. A v1 score and a v2 score are different tests.
  4. Does it match your job? A model that aces exam questions may still be weak at reading a filing. Check that the test resembles what you will ask it.

FAQ

Which AI models are built specifically for finance?

BloombergGPT is the best-known research model. Commercial options include ChatGPT for Financial Services for firms, Fiscal.ai for checked financial data inside AI tools, and Numa 1, which runs Moneda's agent for individual investors.

What is the most accurate AI for financial analysis?

There is no neutral answer. Published scores come from different tests, different question sets and often from the vendors themselves. Compare scores only when the test, the version and the question set match.

Is a finance AI better than ChatGPT for investing?

For general questions, ChatGPT is fine. For research on real investments, you want an answer that shows its sources and works from filings and market data. That is what finance-focused tools try to add.

Can I use Numa 1 outside the Moneda app?

Yes, through the agent. The Moneda MCP connects Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client to your account, and Premium and Ultra include a REST API and CLI.
