Someone sent money to my account and it hasn't arrived. Why?

A few things can delay or stop a bank transfer to your account:

  • It's from someone else. Some accounts only accept transfers from bank accounts in your own name, and your account details say so if yours is one of them. A transfer from someone else then fails and is returned to the sender.
  • It's being reviewed. Some transfers, for example from other people or close to your limits, are reviewed before they reach your balance. This usually takes 24 to 48 hours, and you don't need to do anything while it's reviewed.
  • It's still in transit. SEPA transfers usually arrive within minutes and can take up to 3 business days. ACH transfers can take up to 4 to 5 business days.

If it's been longer than that, go to Help Centre > Talk to Support and tell us the sender's name, the amount and the date.
