AI Assistant
AI Assistant help and FAQs from Moneda on your self-custody account, stablecoins, transfers, security, and AI agent.
What is the Moneda AI assistant and what can it do?
Moneda includes an AI assistant that answers questions about your account and helps you get things done in plain language. It can check your balances and earnings, explain a transaction, summarize your spending, or walk you through a feature. It only ever acts on your own account, and anything that moves money still needs your explicit approval. The assistant can't send funds on its own. You can use it inside the app, and you can also connect Moneda to outside AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT. See the Web, API & Developer Tools section for how those connections work.
How does AI usage work and what are usage credits?
AI features run on large language models, which cost money every time they're used, so your AI usage is metered. You get an allowance included, and if you need more you can buy extra usage credits. You can also set a usage limit to cap how much AI you use. Your usage and what's left of your allowance are shown in the app.
Can an AI agent act on my behalf automatically (agent sessions)?
Agent sessions let you hand a limited set of actions to an AI agent so it can act on your behalf without you approving each step. You define the limits up front (for example a specific recipient, an amount cap, and a time window), sign off with your passkey, and the agent can only act inside those bounds. This is still being built and isn't available in the app yet.
How do I approve a payment my AI assistant starts?
An AI assistant cannot move your money on its own. When you ask one to send a payment, it creates a payment request rather than a payment, and you get a notification asking you to approve it.
You open the request in the Moneda app, check the amount, recipient, and currency, and approve it with your passkey. Only then is anything sent. Until you approve, the assistant is simply waiting, and it can see that the request is still pending but cannot advance it.
If the details do not look like what you asked for, tap Reject. The request is tied to the exact amount and recipient it was created with, so an assistant cannot quietly change them while waiting for your approval.
A request expires after 5 minutes. If it expires, ask the assistant to create it again.
What can an AI assistant do with my Moneda account?
Only what you allow. Access is granted as separate permissions, not one blanket approval, and each is either read or write. For example, an assistant can be allowed to read your balances, transactions and spending without any ability to change anything.
Reading covers things like balances, transactions, rates, contacts, spending, earnings, points and virtual account details.
Writing, if you grant it, covers things like updating a contact, adding a note or a receipt to a transaction, adding a wallet or bank account as a recipient, and starting requests for payments, currency exchanges, trades, moves to or from your Earnings Account and sub-account transfers.
Two limits always apply, regardless of permissions:
- Anything that moves money is only a request until you approve it in the app, confirmed with your passkey.
- Your passkey is never shared. An assistant cannot sign a transaction, and cannot add, remove or pause a passkey.
You can see what is connected in Settings > Security > Active Sessions, under Connected agents.
How do I revoke an AI assistant's access?
Go to Settings > Security > Active Sessions. Assistants you have connected are listed under Connected agents, with when each was last active. Tap Disconnect on the one you want to remove. It loses access straight away.
"Terminate all other sessions" signs out your other devices. It does not disconnect connected agents, so disconnect each one yourself.
API keys are managed separately in Settings > Developers > API keys.
Payments you already approved cannot be reversed, since blockchain transactions are final.
