# How are my money and investments protected in Moneda?

Each kind of asset is protected differently:

- **Your EUR and USD balances** are held as EURC and USDC in your own account. They're backed by reserves held by Circle, but they aren't covered by a deposit guarantee scheme the way a bank account is.
- **Your stocks and ETFs** are tokens, each backed one-for-one by a real share that Dinari holds. The tokens sit in your own account, not with Moneda.
- **Your crypto** sits in your own account too.

Nothing leaves your account without your approval. Every payment, trade and exchange, including ones Moneda AI or a connected AI tool prepares, needs your Passkey.

Investing carries risk. Capital at risk: the value of your investments can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you put in.
