> **Short answer**: a tokenized stock is a digital token, recorded on a blockchain, that tracks the price of a real share. The apps below differ in what stands behind the token, who is allowed to buy it, when you can trade it and whether you can move it to your own wallet. Moneda is the only one here open to people in the US. If you want research and investing in one app, start with Moneda. If moving tokens to your own wallet and trading at weekends matter most, look at Kraken or Backpack.
>
> - **Best overall for research plus investing:** Moneda (free; Premium from €9.99/month), because the agent researches each stock with a source behind every figure and the tokens sit in your own account
> - **Best for moving tokens on-chain:** Kraken xStocks (no trading fee when buying with US dollars)
> - **Best for low cost in the EU:** Robinhood Classic Stock Tokens (0.1% currency fee per order)
> - **Best for 24/7 trading on an exchange:** Bybit xStocks (0.2% trading fee at the base tier)
> - **Best for EU customers who want dShares from a big exchange:** Gemini (no trading fee; spread applies)
> - **Best for converting between a share and a token:** Backpack (fees not published on the pages we read)
> - **Best for using tokens in DeFi apps:** Ondo Global Markets (fees not published on the page we read)

## Comparison at a glance

Facts are as listed on each company's own website on 23 October 2026. "Not published" means the page we read did not say.

| App | Token | What stands behind it | US customers? | Trading hours | Withdraw on-chain? | Fees (October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Moneda | Dinari dShares | Token issued by Dinari that tracks a US share; Dinari keeps title to the share | Yes | US market hours; orders outside them wait for the open | Held in your own self-custodial account | 1, 5 or 10 commission-free trades a month depending on plan, then the plan's fee |
| Kraken | xStocks (Backed) | Backed 1:1 by the underlying asset in regulated custody | No | 24/5; ten tokens 24/7 | Yes: Solana, Ethereum, TON, Ink | No trading fee buying with US dollars; spread may apply; 1% to convert |
| Robinhood (EU) | Classic Stock Tokens | Derivative contract with Robinhood Europe | No (EU and EEA) | Any time Monday to Friday | No | 0.1% currency fee per order |
| Bybit | xStocks (Backed) | Backed 1:1 by the underlying asset | No | 24/7 | Yes: Solana, Mantle | 0.2% maker and taker at the base tier |
| Gemini (EU) | Dinari dShares | Backed 1:1 by real shares in custody | No | Around the clock | Not described; sold or redeemed back to Dinari | No trading fee; spread plus Dinari fees |
| Backpack | Backpack tokenized securities | Claim on a company that holds the shares, redeemable 1:1 | No | Token 24/7 on Solana; account holdings mostly 24/5 | Yes: convert and withdraw to Solana | Not published |
| Ondo Global Markets | Ondo Stocks ("on" tokens) | Backed by shares plus cash in transit at US broker-dealers or trust companies | No | Minting 24/5 (six tokens 24/7); trading between users 24/7 | Yes: Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana | Not published |

## What to look for

Ask these of any app, ours included.

- **What stands behind the token?** Some tokens are backed one for one by a real share held by a custodian (a firm that holds assets for others). Others are a derivative, a contract whose value follows the share price while you own only a claim on the company that sold it to you. In both cases you usually have no vote and depend on the issuer staying solvent.
- **Can you use it where you live?** Almost every tokenized stock is sold under rules that exclude US persons. Many also exclude the UK, Canada or Australia, or only reach some EU countries.
- **When can you trade?** 24/5 means around the clock on weekdays, from Sunday evening to Friday evening US time. 24/7 adds weekends. Outside normal US market hours, prices can drift from the share price.
- **Can you take the token out?** On-chain means the token moves on a public blockchain. Some apps let you withdraw it to your own wallet. Others keep it inside the app.
- **What does a trade really cost?** Look past a zero trading fee to the spread (the gap between buy and sell prices), currency conversion and issuer fees.
- **Can you research before you buy?** Most token apps show a price chart and little else.

## The apps, one by one

Each app gets the same fields. Each competitor fact comes from that company's own website, checked on 23 October 2026.

### Moneda

- **What you get:** fractional US-listed shares and ETFs (exchange-traded funds, baskets of assets that trade like one share), plus research by Moneda AI, the agent. The agent researches a stock with a source behind each figure and gives the bull case and the bear case. It sends daily briefings, summarises earnings, runs a stock screener and searches SEC filings and earnings-call transcripts.
- **Legal structure:** the stocks come through Dinari as dShares. Each dShare is a token issued by Dinari that tracks the share price. You do not own the share itself, you have no vote, and Dinari keeps title to the shares. Dinari is the regulated partner. Moneda is not a broker and does not hold your money: the tokens sit in your own self-custodial account.
- **Who can use it:** customers in the US and in the other countries Moneda supports.
- **Fees:** Standard is free. Premium from €9.99 per month, Ultra from €19.99 per month. Plans include 1, 5 or 10 commission-free trades a month; after that the plan's fee applies.
- **Trading hours:** US market hours. An order placed outside them waits and fills when the market opens.
- **Every trade:** you approve it yourself in the app.
- **Honest limitation:** US-listed shares and ETFs only, so no European-listed stocks or funds.

### [Kraken](https://www.kraken.com/xstocks)

- **What you get:** xStocks, tokenized US stocks and ETFs issued by Backed, bought in the Kraken app or on Kraken Pro.
- **Legal structure:** backed 1:1 by the underlying asset held in regulated custody. Holders can redeem with the issuer for cash value or the underlying asset.
- **Who can use it:** eligible customers in more than 110 countries. Not the US, Canada, the UK or Australia.
- **Fees:** no trading fee when buying with US dollars or Kraken's dollar stablecoin (a token that tracks the dollar). A spread may be built into the price. Kraken Pro charges 0.1% to takers. Converting xStocks costs 1%.
- **Trading hours:** 24/5 for most. Ten, including TSLAx and SPYx, trade 24/7 on Kraken Pro.
- **Withdraw on-chain:** yes, to your own wallet on Solana, Ethereum, TON or Ink.
- **Honest limitation:** research tools are thin, so you will need another source to judge the company.

### [Robinhood](https://robinhood.com/eu/en/support/articles/stock-tokens-faq/)

- **What you get:** Classic Stock Tokens linked to US-listed stocks and ETFs in the Robinhood Europe app, from €1.
- **Legal structure:** each token is a derivative contract with Robinhood Europe, not the stock. The underlying assets are held by a US-licensed institution. No shareholder rights such as voting.
- **Who can use it:** eligible customers in the EU and EEA.
- **Fees:** a 0.1% currency fee on each order, for the euro to dollar conversion. Robinhood says it charges no other fees.
- **Trading hours:** any time Monday to Friday.
- **Withdraw on-chain:** no. You cannot send the tokens to other wallets or platforms.
- **Honest limitation:** it is a contract with Robinhood, so if Robinhood Europe failed you could lose what you invested.

### [Bybit](https://www.bybit.com/en/help-center/article/FAQ-xStocks-on-Bybit)

- **What you get:** xStocks traded on Bybit's spot market, after identity verification.
- **Legal structure:** the same Backed tokens as on Kraken. Bybit is only a place to buy and sell them; it does not redeem them.
- **Who can use it:** not the US. Bybit lists further restricted regions, and its own guide names the EEA, the UK and Australia among them.
- **Fees:** 0.2% for makers and takers at the base tier, lower at higher tiers.
- **Trading hours:** 24/7. Prices outside market hours may not match the share.
- **Withdraw on-chain:** yes, on Solana and Mantle.
- **Honest limitation:** not open to most of Europe.

### [Gemini](https://www.gemini.com/tokenizedstocks)

- **What you get:** more than 100 tokenized US stocks for Gemini EU customers, with new ones added weekly.
- **Legal structure:** Dinari dShares, described by Gemini as backed 1:1 by real shares held in custody. Dinari issues them; Gemini EU distributes them.
- **Who can use it:** customers in certain EU countries. Not the US.
- **Fees:** no Gemini trading fee, but a spread is added to the price and Dinari's fees apply.
- **Trading hours:** around the clock, according to the page.
- **Withdraw on-chain:** the page does not describe it. It says the tokens can generally only be sold or redeemed back to Dinari.
- **Honest limitation:** the page does not say which EU countries qualify.

### [Backpack](https://support.backpack.exchange/backpack-securities/tokenized-securities)

- **What you get:** US stocks you can hold either as a normal holding at Backpack or as a token on Solana, and switch between the two.
- **Legal structure:** each token is a claim on an SPV (a company set up only to hold the shares) and is redeemable 1:1 for the real share.
- **Who can use it:** not the US, the UK, the UAE, Japan or Backpack EU customers.
- **Fees:** not published on the pages we read.
- **Trading hours:** tokens trade 24/7 on Solana. Normal holdings trade 24/5 for most securities.
- **Withdraw on-chain:** yes, by converting a holding to a token and withdrawing it to Solana.
- **Honest limitation:** not available to customers of its EU business.

### [Ondo Global Markets](https://ondo.finance/global-markets)

- **What you get:** Ondo Stocks, tokens that track US stocks and ETFs, named with an "on" ending (Tesla is TSLAon). Bought through the Ondo app with a connected wallet or on partner exchanges.
- **Legal structure:** backed by underlying shares plus cash in transit, held at US broker-dealers or trust companies and checked daily by an independent agent. You do not own the shares. Dividends are reinvested.
- **Who can use it:** eligible non-US persons after identity checks. Not the US.
- **Fees:** not published on the page we read.
- **Trading hours:** minting and redeeming (creating new tokens or turning them back into cash) 24/5; six tokens 24/7. Trading between users 24/7.
- **Withdraw on-chain:** yes, on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana. Some tokens work in DeFi apps (finance apps that run on a blockchain), for example as loan collateral.
- **Honest limitation:** you need your own crypto wallet, which is more work than a regular app.

## How to choose

Start with where you live. If you are in the US, Moneda is the only app here open to you. Elsewhere, check that your country is on the app's list before anything else.

Then decide whether the token needs to leave the app. If you want it in your own wallet or in DeFi apps, Kraken, Bybit, Backpack and Ondo allow that. If you only want price exposure at low cost inside an app, Robinhood is simple, with the trade-off that you hold a contract with Robinhood rather than a backed token.

If weekend trading matters, Bybit, Backpack and Ondo trade around the clock, and Kraken does for ten tokens.

If you want to understand a company before you buy it, with sources you can open, and keep the tokens in your own account, Moneda is built for that.

## FAQ

### What is a tokenized stock?

A token on a blockchain whose price follows a real share. Depending on the app, it is backed by a share held by a custodian or it is a derivative contract with the company that sold it. Either way you usually do not get a vote.

### Do I own the share when I buy a tokenized stock?

Usually not. You own the token, and the share sits with the issuer or its custodian. Check whether the token can be redeemed for the share or only for its cash value.

### Can people in the US buy tokenized stocks?

Of the apps compared here, only Moneda. The others sell their tokens under rules that exclude US persons.

### Is 24/7 trading a good thing?

It is convenient, but when US markets are closed, prices come from thinner trading and can differ from the share price. Expect wider spreads at weekends.

### What happens if the issuer fails?

You depend on the issuer and its custodian. With a backed token, the shares are meant to be held for token holders. With a derivative, you are a creditor of the company that sold it. Read the app's risk disclosure before buying.

### Are dividends paid on tokenized stocks?

It varies. Ondo and Backpack reinvest dividends into more tokens. Other apps pass on a cash amount. Check each app's terms.
