> **Short answer**: there is no single best AI stock research tool. The right one depends on the job. Some tools read broker research and expert calls for professionals. Others give you clean financial data and charts, score stocks with a model, or answer plain-English questions with sources. Pick by the research you do most, then weigh the price against how often you will use it.
>
> - **Best overall for individual investors:** Moneda (free; Premium from €9.99/month), because the agent searches SEC filings and earnings-call transcripts and shows the source behind each figure, and you can invest in the same app
> - **Best for professional document search:** AlphaSense (price not published)
> - **Best for financial data you can audit to source:** Fiscal.ai (price not published; 7 day free trial)
> - **Best for charts and dashboards:** Koyfin (free; paid from $39/month)
> - **Best for long financial history on a budget:** TIKR (free; paid from $24.95/month)
> - **Best for model-based stock scores:** Danelfin (free; paid from €22/month)
> - **Best for free market news with sources:** Perplexity Finance (free to view; price not published)
> - **Best for general questions and your own files:** ChatGPT (free plan; paid plans available)

## What to look for

Ask these of any tool, ours included.

- **Where does the data come from?** Filings and official company documents are the ground truth. The main one is the [10-K](/blog/how-to-read-a-10-k-with-ai), the annual report a US company files with its regulator. Ask whether the tool reads them directly, and whether it tells you which one it used.
- **Can you check the answer?** An AI answer is only useful if you can trace each number back to a source. Look for citations you can open.
- **What does the AI actually do?** Summarising documents, calculating scores and answering open questions are different jobs. Know which one you are paying for.
- **Coverage.** Which markets, which asset types, and how many years of history.
- **Does it show both sides?** Good research names the risks as well as the upside.
- **Price against use.** A professional platform priced by quote is a different decision from a monthly plan you can cancel.
- **Where you work.** A web terminal, a phone app, or inside an AI tool you already use.

## The tools, one by one

Each tool gets the same six fields. Each fact comes from the vendor's own website, checked on 23 October 2026.

### Moneda

- **What it is:** an app where you research and invest in one place. The research is done by [Moneda AI](/financial-agent), the agent, built on [Numa 1](/models/numa-1), Moneda's financial AI engine.
- **What the AI does:** researches a company from its filings and live market data, works the figures out from the data, and shows the source behind each one. It gives both sides of the story, the bull case and the bear case. It scores a company's [7 Powers](/blog/what-are-the-7-powers) (a framework for a moat, the lasting edge that keeps competitors out), checks the quality of earnings, and produces a Moneda Ratio scorecard (descriptive, 1 to 7). It has a stock screener, summarises each company's earnings, and finds ideas from a plain-language description, builds an illustrative portfolio from your goal, tracks it, alerts you when something changes, and stress-tests it against 2008, 2020 and 2022. You can benchmark a portfolio against gold, an index or any fund. It never tells you to buy or sell.
- **Data:** [SEC filings](https://www.sec.gov/edgar/search/) and earnings-call transcripts, company financials from [EODHD](https://eodhd.com) (about two decades of history for most US stocks), stocks, ETFs, a few commodities through exchange-traded funds (gold, silver, oil), and crypto. In the same app you can [invest](/invest) in US-listed shares and ETFs (fractional) and crypto. You approve every trade yourself with your passkey. Moneda AI also works inside [Claude](https://claude.ai) and ChatGPT through the [Moneda MCP](/developers), and a REST API and CLI come with Premium and Ultra.
- **Price:** Standard is free. [Premium from €9.99 per month](/plans). Ultra from €19.99 per month. Higher plans give more AI usage and more commission-free trades (1, 5 or 10 per month).
- **Best for:** research and investing in the same place: answers that show the source behind every figure, then you invest in the same app, with your approval on every trade. Most tools here do the research or the investing, not both.
- **Benchmarks:** groundedness 97.9%, claim verifiability 92%, 95.6% on FLARE-CFA and 80% on the public set of the [Vals AI Finance Agent Benchmark v2](https://www.vals.ai) (October 2026). Moneda ran and graded these tests itself. Vals AI's top published score is 65.4% on its private set, which is a different set of questions.
- **Honest limitation:** Moneda invests in US-listed shares and ETFs only, so no European-listed stocks or funds.

### [AlphaSense](https://www.alpha-sense.com/pricing/)

- **What it is:** a market intelligence platform for companies and investment firms.
- **What the AI does:** generative search over its content library, AI summaries, and workflow agents that run research tasks. An add-on gives financial models with AI-generated tables.
- **Data:** equity research from more than 1,000 sell-side and independent firms, an expert transcript library, SEC and global filings, earnings call transcripts, news, company presentations and trade journals. The Enterprise plan can also search a firm's own documents.
- **Price:** not published. AlphaSense sells annual subscriptions through its sales team.
- **Best for:** professionals who need broker research and expert calls in one search.
- **Honest limitation:** there is no public price or self-serve monthly plan, so it is hard to try as an individual.

### [Fiscal.ai](https://fiscal.ai/pricing/)

- **What it is:** a financial data company with a research terminal, a data feed API, and MCP connectors that bring its data into AI tools.
- **What the AI does:** its pipeline pulls filings and investor relations material, extracts the numbers, and publishes them within minutes of a release. The company says the data has human analyst checks and can be audited back to source.
- **Data:** global equities content from filings and investor relations pages.
- **Price:** not published on the pricing page. The Terminal and MCP products each include a 7 day free trial on signup.
- **Best for:** investors who want clean, checkable company numbers, in a terminal or inside their own AI tools.
- **Honest limitation:** you cannot see the price before signing up, which makes comparison harder.

### [Koyfin](https://www.koyfin.com/pricing/)

- **What it is:** a market data and charting platform with dashboards, screens and plans for financial advisors.
- **What the AI does:** the pricing page does not list AI features in any plan. We include Koyfin because many investors pair it with an AI tool for the data and charts.
- **Data:** market and company data presented in charts and dashboards.
- **Price:** Free; Plus $39 per month; Premium $79 per month; Advisor Core $209 per month; Advisor Pro $299 per month. Annual plans save up to 30%.
- **Best for:** people who think in charts and want a clear dashboard of what they follow.
- **Honest limitation:** it is a data tool first. If you want an AI to answer questions, you will need a second tool.

### [TIKR](https://tikr.com/pricing)

- **What it is:** a stock research site focused on company financials.
- **What the AI does:** the pricing page does not describe AI features.
- **Data:** US data on the free plan, full global data on paid plans. History runs from 5 years on Free to 30 years on Ultimate.
- **Price:** Free; Plus $24.95 per month; Pro $54.95 per month; Ultimate $119.95 per month. Annual billing is offered but the annual price was not shown.
- **Best for:** long term investors who want many years of financials, such as revenue, free cash flow (the cash left after running and investing in the business) and the P/E ratio (share price divided by earnings per share), without a large bill.
- **Honest limitation:** no AI analysis is described, so the reading and judging is up to you.

### [Danelfin](https://danelfin.com/pricing/annual)

- **What it is:** a rating service for stocks and ETFs (exchange-traded funds, baskets of assets that trade like one share) built around an AI Score.
- **What the AI does:** gives each stock or ETF technical, fundamental and sentiment scores, an overall AI Score, buy, hold and sell signals, AI price forecasts and trade ideas. Paid plans show all the signals behind a score.
- **Data:** rankings for US stocks, US ETFs and European stocks, with historical daily scores since 2017 on the top plan.
- **Price:** Free (€0); Plus €22 per month; Pro €59 per month; Elite €134 per month, as shown with yearly billing. There is a 14 day free trial and a 30 day money-back guarantee.
- **Best for:** investors who want a ranked list and a score to start their own research.
- **Honest limitation:** a score is a model's output, not a reason. You still need to read the company to know why.

### [Perplexity Finance](https://www.perplexity.ai/finance)

- **What it is:** the finance section of Perplexity, an AI search engine.
- **What the AI does:** writes market summaries and stock stories, each with a count of the sources it used. It also has earnings pages, a screener, watchlists and a market heatmap.
- **Data:** market prices and news from many sources, shown with links.
- **Price:** the finance pages are free to view. No price for the finance section was published on the page we read.
- **Best for:** a quick, sourced read on what moved the market today.
- **Honest limitation:** it is built for news and quick answers rather than deep work on one company's accounts.

### [ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/pricing/)

- **What it is:** [OpenAI](https://openai.com)'s general AI chat app, on web, iOS and Android.
- **What the AI does:** answers questions, searches the web, analyses files you upload, makes charts and tables, and runs deep research. The plan table also lists a Finances feature.
- **Data:** what you give it, plus web search. It is not a financial data provider.
- **Price:** a free plan, plus Go, Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans. The page we read did not show the paid prices as text, so we have left them out.
- **Best for:** open questions, explaining terms, and working through a filing you upload.
- **Honest limitation:** it is general purpose. Check every number against the source document.

## How to choose

Start with the question you ask most often.

If you need what the sell side and industry experts are saying, a professional platform like AlphaSense is built for that. If you want raw numbers you can trust, for example to build your own [DCF](/blog/how-to-value-a-stock-with-ai) (discounted cash flow, a valuation that adds up future cash in today's money), look at a data tool such as Fiscal.ai or TIKR. If you think visually, Koyfin's charts are the draw. If you want a ranked shortlist, Danelfin gives you scores. For today's news with sources, Perplexity Finance is quick and free to read. ChatGPT handles general questions and documents you upload.

If you want an agent that reads the filings, shows its sources, puts the case for and against side by side, and lets you invest when you are ready, that is what Moneda is built to do.

Plenty of investors use two tools, one for data and one for questions. Whatever you use, [check the source of any number](/blog/can-you-trust-ai-for-investment-research) before you act on it.

## FAQ

### Can an AI tool tell me which stock to buy?

Some tools give scores or signals. None of them knows your situation, and none can promise a result. Use AI to gather facts and test your thinking. The decision stays with you. Moneda AI never tells you to buy or sell.

### Are AI stock research tools accurate?

It depends on the data behind them and whether you can check the output. Prefer tools that cite the filing or data source behind each figure, and open those sources for anything important.

### Do I need a paid plan?

Not to start. Koyfin, TIKR, Danelfin, Perplexity Finance, ChatGPT and Moneda all have a free way in. Pay when you hit a limit you actually feel.

### What is the difference between a data tool and an AI research tool?

A data tool gives you the numbers and charts, and you do the analysis. An AI research tool reads the data and documents for you and explains what it found. Some products do both.

### Can I use these tools inside Claude or ChatGPT?

Some can. Fiscal.ai offers MCP connectors for AI tools. Moneda AI works inside Claude and ChatGPT through the Moneda MCP.

### How often do prices change?

Often. Every price here was checked on the vendor's own site in October 2026. Check the vendor's page before you subscribe.
